Tales of Xillia

Tales of Xillia is probably the best looking Tales game to date. And I’m pretty sure that when this game is released in the West it will do great. So, just to keep the hype going, here’s what we know about the game so far. As we know, Tales of Xillia will be released this year but it’s not confirmed when. And, as we also know, this game is a PlayStation 3 exclusive.

Now onto some features of the game. Xillia will feature two playable main characters: Jude Mathis, a medical student who goes to school in the capital city, and Milla Maxwell, a woman shrouded in mystery who is also accompanied by 4 unseen beings. As for the story:  The kingdom of Rashugal has been experimenting with a powerful source that led to draining the mana from the world. Realizing the harm it is inflicting on the world, Jude and Milla set off on a journey to destroy it and restore the mana back to the world.

Some more features include:

New graphical expressions

Achieved by the development team’s technique and knowledge accumulated over 15 years, the world and characters are portrayed in their natural, life-size state so that players can feel the characters and objects in the game as if they really exist there.

“Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System”

The latest version of the most dynamic battle system seen in JRPG gaming that allows players to have an advantage in the battle by using Linked Combat System to link two characters to team up in terms of attack, defense and support. The Player can enjoy more tactical battles by changing the party members with backup members even during the battle.

Hyper linked Combos

While characters are linked, their cooperative gauge called “Linked Artes Gauge” will fill up. Once the gauge is filled to some extent, characters can perform special attacks called “Linked Artes” that change variously depending on the arte the controlled character uses. Once the gauge is full, the player can perform Linked Artes combos until the gauge becomes zero.

Also if you did not know this game’s character design is a collaboration between Mutsumi Inomata and Kosuke Fujishima who also worked on other character designs in previous Tales games.

That was quite a lot of information. So this could be news for some or just a refresh for others. As for me, I can’t get enough information of this game. I am highly anticipating this game and I’m sure there are a lot more like me. Let us know of what you think about this information or if you’re anticipating Tales of Xillia like I am.

About Theophilus Fox

Former Volunteer- My name is Theophilus Fox, I've been a gamer since as long as I can remember, and I also enjoy manga and anime. I'm a Nintendo fan, although I do not discriminate between franchises. I'm a guy who just loves to make jokes and generally have a fun time.

  • Based solely on the Hi-Ougi videos, I’d say this is definitely the step up in the series we’ve been waiting for.

    • I don’t think the series needs a huge step up…
Tales of Graces and Vesperia were both fantastic. And the importers say that Xillia seems a little rushed at times. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of these sound great. But the series has always been high quality.

  • i’m really looking forward to this game, as soon as a release date is said w/ any potential preorder goodies, i’m preordering it for sure! since the ps4 is due out later this year, around november, i imagine this game will be released between april and july.

  • I hope it’s good, little unsure about the sound of the combat/gameplay. I am going to have to look up some videos. Currently playing Tales of Vesperia on Xbox360 (Finally gave in and bought it as sick of waiting to hear of the PS3 version). I don’t have any hope of it happening anymore now. Loving it so far and loves Tales of Graces F but my favourite in the series so far is Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube 🙂

    • Vesperia actually became my favorite. Its story was just gripping enough to beat out Graces, the combat feels amazing, the characters are universally awesome, and unlike Symphonia, there’s no 20 hour buildup before the game really becomes good…

    • What I really want is a Tales of the Abyss without the brand of story lag it had. The “talk to all the rulers” checklist, in particular, got pretty annoying to go through over and over. But in its other aspects, Abyss was just a beautifully made game. It’s my personal gold standard for the series.

    • I need to buy Abyss again and give it another chance, I don’t know what it was, if it was the fact it was on handheld for me…I don’t know but I just lost interest. I’ll have to think about it and maybe buy it again as The Tales series is one of the only older series that remains true to itself and sticks to the core of their system, action rpg. It’s never trying to be anything else and always stays true to their fan base from what I have seen so far

    • Yeh I can tell the story is going to be good, the characters all have strong personalities and I like them. This is a nice pace too and sometimes I keep thinking of Tales of Symphonia, it has a very nice feel to the game. It’s too early to say but It could be better than Graces. I found in Graces the skills were too confusing in terminology I could never quite get to grips with it but somehow I could still do the combat. In Vesperia it seems simpler and more fun. I really like the combat in this one and it feels closer to Symphonia so far, which is a massive plus point for me

  • Asked gamestop for news on ToX and they said it will be out on July of this year. Not sure if this is official but I hope they give out the release date soon!

  • My excitement for this game is surging lamp poles.

  • forweg

Right now I’m just worried about the sequel being localized, especially with the PS4 on the horizon.

  • Slow News Day too much?
We have known this for quite a time, actually, since before it launched in Japan.
Care to give a release date? I’m itching to get rid of this useless PS3, the only reason keeping me from selling it is this game.
