Ni no Kuni

In a surprise twist, Namco Bandai announced a playable demo of Ni no Kuni that will be released on the PlayStion Network tomorrow. The demo will have two sizable areas to explore and two bosses to engage:  Guardian of the Woods and Moltaan, both were shown extensively in previous trailers.

It’s rare to see a JRPG get a demo and, while Tales of Vesperia‘s demo wasn’t exactly cream of the crop material, seeing a company go out of there way to just do it is a nice sight to see. Namco Bandai is really surprising me with this game’s marketing and release so it’s a plus to see them put forth their continuing effort for the esteemed title.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will be officially released on January 22, 2013 in North America and January 25, 2013 in Europe.

An JRPG?  I don’t think that’s grammatically proper.  Either way, I am looking forward to the demo.

  • Cant wait! So excited for this game!

  • I’ve been keeping an eye on this game. A demo is just what I needed to give it a try and form a better opinion about making it a Day 1 purchase. I’ve already been 99.9% sure, but can’t be absolutely sure until I try it out.

  • Oh man, I can’t wait to play this!  Oh, wait…no PS3…Gosh darn it!

    • buy the game anyways, think, you can ALWAYS buy a PS3, but will Ni No Kuni be as easy to find?

    • I barely have enough money to buy games for consoles I already own…

  • Out, played it, loved it.

    Loved the demo!

The battle system seems like a mix of a Final Fantasy Active Time Battle, Final Fantasy X character swapping and Pokemon (and that’s a good thing). Died a few times until I figured out you can move during battle between commands.
