If you saw the teaser video that SEGA released two days ago, you’re probably dying to know what it means. The numbers [2×5] and a bunch of sound effects from SEGA games gone by… Well, the wait is over! Yesterday a new video was uploaded (embedded below) to announce SEGA’s MODEL2 Collection. The collection contains five games they’ll be re-releasing (in two batches, no less) on PSN and XBLA.
Virtua Fighter 2
The monumental 3D fighting game and social phenomenon. Now with online play. And a spectator feature. And all the old techniques have been reproduced.
Butch demolition that is all fists! Breakable walls and armor!! Fighting Vipers is a flashy game, sure to become a habit. Hidden character Mahler is available from the outset.
Sonic the Fighters
Sonic The Fighters is once again available after Sonic’s long 21-year history. Metal Sonic and Eggman will be available to play.
These three games will be available for 800 yen (about $10) each, or 1,500 yen (about $19) together on PSN. They will be released fall 2012.
A pioneering 3DCG soccer game, Virtua Striker was unexpectedly implemented as a game playable at home. A simple natured game, easy to play and easy to to play a series of matches. 18 countries participate in the kick off to get to the top.
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On
A shocking entrance! This game also had great influence on the gaming scene after its release. Cyber Troopers Virtual-On also now has online competition.
Additionally, HORI is releasing a special Twin Stick controller. Pre-orders are open on the 18th of October 2012.
The last two games are scheduled to be released early winter 2013 (December for Japan). Their price is undecided as of yet.
Thus far these announcements are for Japan only. Would you like to see these re-releases localized on PSN and XBLA? Leave us your thoughts in the comments below.
