Magi: The Labyrinth Of Magic

Aladdin, the protagonist of Magi: The Labyrinth Of Magic

Namco Bandai has released the debut trailer for Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic for the 3DS. The RPG is based on a long running Arabian Nights-themed Japanese manga, written and illustrated by Shinobu Ohtaka.

The game stars protagonist Aladdin, a young boy who travels through a desert land. He carries a magic flute that summons a djinn named Ugo. Together they befriend a seemingly greedy young man named Alibaba, who realizes that the djinn would be a powerful ally. Thus, he recruits them to help explore a nearby treasure-filled dungeon. As they travel together, they become friends, make allies, and encounter other djinn. Along the way, they discover that they could potentially decide the fate of the world.

Magi has also recently been picked up and will be turned into an anime series premiering in October later this year. You can watch the trailer for the 3DS game below:

No exact release date has been announced, but it is set to release for the Nintendo handheld in the spring of 2013.

  • Can’t really say much about this game given how little I saw of it.  But, I do like the tales of Aladdin and Alibaba, so I’ll give it the benefit of a doubt.

Definitely digging the aesthetic, character design, and animation. Certainly may have to give the series a shot. I’m intrigued on the game, but not enough for me to make a decision on if I should get excited for it. Oh well, more 3DS love!

This looks VERY cool. I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it before. Has anyone read the manga?

  • Pretty cool, it has a ‘Tales of’ vibe to it, visually speaking.

Hey guys. Just a little insight, this game is actually an adaption of the manga (japanese comic) Magi: The Labyrinth of magic. If you want to have a read or get a general idea of the synopsis then click the link below. The manga is really good and I hope the game is able to bring the world of Magi to life.

Oh but I do =). I just noticed that they already put in the description it was based of a manga adaption. That’s what you get from skipping the text and heading strait to the trailer. Well just use my comment as a link to the manga then.
