Steins;Gate is a visual novel/video game that came out in Japan for the Xbox 360 in 2009. An anime adaptation was later created, of which Funimation Entertainment will be releasing next week on September 25th, 2012 in North America. The set will feature all 300 minutes of part one of the popular anime series and features English/Japanese dub options with English subtitles.

“The microwave is a time machine. Okarin proved it. The self-anointed mad scientist nuked bananas into some gelatinous version of the future. Or maybe it was the past. Doesn’t matter. No one thought he could do it, but he did it anyway. He sent text messages through time to people he knew. To his friends. Some of them female. Pretty. He should have been more careful. He should have stopped. Tampering with the time-space continuum attracts unwelcome attention. Clandestine organizations of nefarious origins take notice. SERN. Always watching. Okarin knows; he can feel their eyes. That’s why he started the top secret Future Gadget Lab. To stop them. You should join. We get to wear lab coats, and it’s dangerous. Danger is exciting because it’s deadly. The microwave is a time machine.”

About Jared Cyhowski

[Former Staff] Jared is a recent graduate from Fitchburg State University where he studied communications, video production, and English. He enjoys playing video games, watching anime, writing, and of course pizza. His favorite games are Shadow of the Colossus and Final Fantasy IX, but he can’t possibly choose a favorite anime. Jared enjoys following the games industry and observing what will happen next, and he puts out an invitation for discussion on these topics. He loves a great story in these mediums and prefers a stronger narrative design over most features. Jared is personally responsible for creating and managing the Anime section of the website, and hopes to inspired and entertain with everything he writes.

  • The series is over 300 minutes.  This must be part one of the collection.

Thank you for pointing that out. When I checked last night I could have sworn it said complete series, which even I felt was a bit off in run time.

I started watching this show recently and I LOVE it. It is the Donnie Darko of anime. If that sentence means anything at all to you, WATCH IT.

Does it come with a lab coat?
