UPDATE 06/08/12 12:00 am: In an interview with IGN, Ubisoft’s VP of Sales and Marketing Tony Key said that, while they currently don’t have any plans on bringing Watch Dogs to the Wii U, they were open to the possibility.

“We have so many titles in development for Wii U right now that we need to keep that team focused and this is a very very ambitious game. But it’s not out of the question.”

I think we can all agree that Ubisoft won E3 when they showed off Watch Dogs. Given how detailed the graphics for this game are, one would think they’d be released for Microsoft’s and Sony’s hypothetical next-gen consoles. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

During an interview with Geoff Keighley on Spike TV, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillermont revealed what platforms the game will be released on. They will be the PC, Xbox 360, and the PS3. Interestingly, they didn’t say anything about a version for the Wii U. Maybe Ubisoft isn’t as supportive of the Wii U as they originally let on.

About Kyle Emch

Kyle has been studying music at college for about three years now. He's played the piano since he was 6 years old and has been recently been learning how to write music. He has followed the Operation Rainfall movement on Facebook since it started and was happy to volunteer for the website. Just don't mention Earthbound or the Mother franchise around him.

  • E3 2012 = YAWN.

  • Light_Wolf

They better release it on Wii U.

  • From what I have seen and heard about the Wii-U…. It is simply under powered for this one, hopefully I’m wrong but I doubt it.

    • It has been confirmed that the WiiU is more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360.

    •  Wii U is atleast 3 times more powerful then 360/PS3 so there’s no excuse for it not to be on Wii U to be honest…

  • The concept behind Watch Dogs seems like a shoe in for the Wii U gamepad screen

Actually, I thought PS3’s Beyond looked better.  When that trailer started up, I thought I was watching live action footage.  Not to say Watch Dogs didn’t look great, because it did.  Personally, the game I’m most interested in from E3 is Pikmin 3.  Can’t wait for the Wii U!

  • Yep, this was one of E3 2012’s bright spots.

  • On thing is that he said they already have 8 games currently being made for WiiU, and he said that he didn’t want to put too much on the plate of the developers working on Watch Dogs.  The fact that he said it wasn’t out of the question is a good thing.  I think it depends on how well Ubisoft’s launch games sell.  If they do well, then we may very well see this game on WiiU.
