Not too long ago, Namco Bandai announced that Tales of Xillia is looking towards a Summer 2013 release, at least in North America. For Europe, it was “coming soon,” from what their EU Twitter had also recently stated in regards to the series as a whole. Also taken account the Gamestop computer listing of its possible release date that was also discovered in the same time frame.
While all vague, it was something – that quickly changed today! Namco Bandai has announced, at a media event in New York yesterday, that Tales of Xillia will be heading to North America this summer on August 6 of this year.
In related news, Kotaku had caught up and had a recent interview with series producer, Hideo Baba, and one of the questions that was brought up was the fate of localization on the two remakes for the PlayStation Vita, Tales of Innocence R and Tales of Hearts R. For now, it’s not looking good I’m afraid, as he states below:
Unfortunately, at this present time we don’t have any plans to release any of the Vita titles.
Following up with the current condition of the Vita in the West:
One of the main reasons is, unfortunately the PlayStation Vita is doing relatively poorly in North America, so it’s one of those things that if the numbers increased considerably, then it’s something we could consider.
He also added that in time there will be more Tales related news coming out of the wood work; he guarantees that. So, we got some exciting news, some disheartening news, and more good ol’ teasing. Tales of Xillia is a PlayStation 3 exclusive that will be heading our way soon. Hopefully, the PAL region announcement is not too far off from the North American release date.
