Released in Japan on October 27, 2011 for the PlayStation Portable, Final Fantasy Type-0 is a game that both North American and European audiences alike have been petitioning for. There was a glimmer of hope last November when Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata mentioned in an interview with Gamespot that there is still hope for localization but they are waiting for an opportunity. New Square Enix West CEO, Phil Rogers has now stepped up and responded to the many petitions for the game.
I’ve seen your Facebook page and I hear your question clearly. I’ve posted on the blog that this is one of the first questions I’m going to tackle. It’s not a quick question to answer but I’m looking into it and I’ll update everyone when I can. But I mentioned (again on the blog) that I don’t want to get hopes up as localizing previously released games sometimes isn’t possible when the team have moved onto other projects. But I will look into this thoroughly.
While this is not anything conclusive, it does let us know that they have not abandoned the idea of bringing the game overseas.
There is something you could do to help! Right here at oprainfall we house a campaign for the localization of Final Fantasy Type-0 called Project Crystallis. You can find more information about them here.
