Update—Nov 7th, 2013
NCIX USA has a PS4 bundle for $569.99 available for pre-order. This bundle comes with two controllers, a copy of Killzone Shadow Fall, and one year of PlayStation Plus. Shipping is free. Don’t know if it’s a launch edition. Actually, I know next to nothing about NCIX.com, but I figured I’d share.
Editor’s note: NCIX is a Canadian computer retailer with seven stores in British Columbia’s Metro Vancouver area and four stores in Ontario’s Greater Toronto Area. Its American website, us.ncix.com (linked above), serves American customers online.
Canadian customers can pre-order the PlayStation 4 from NCIX.com (no bundle, unfortunately) for the standard price of $399.99 CAD—however, as NCIX Canada’s initial launch batch has run out, subsequent pre-orders will reserve a unit from the next batch.
Beware—NCIX may charge a 15% restocking fee on returns. Read their ordering FAQ (U.S., Canada) for details.
Update—Nov 4th, 2013
The PS4 launch is just 10 days or so away, and pre-orders are all sold out. So you didn’t pre-order and you’re just going to try your luck at launch? Here are some basic tips that might increase your chances:
- Many Best Buys, Walmarts, and GameStops are having midnight launches. Try your luck at one of them. Though rumors have it that GameStop may not be your best choice for getting a launch console because they tend to favor pre-order stock. Try Walmart or Bestbuy.
- Line up early, as early as you think you can possibly stand. If you are not there say by 3-4pm that day for midnight, you have very little chance.
- Regularly drive by on occasion the day before launch and judge based on the line when you want to line-up. Remember, most places are not going to get a large allotment. Probably 20-30 tops for most places.
- Try calling various stores the day before to get a feel for interest and confirm opening times. A store will probably tell you if a lot of people have called or not and when you should line-up
- The midnight launch did not work out for you? Target is opening at 8:00am. Head over there as early as you can and get in line.
- Still no luck? Try Sears. Sears open at 9:00am
- Small towns will get less allotment but there may not be much interest either. You may want to consider hitting a store in a smaller town if you live in the city.
Good luck and stay safe everyone!
Update—Nov 1st, 2013
PS4 is currently not available at any online store, nor are launch day Xbox Ones. Some retail stores may—may—have pre-orders available if you go in and check, but it’s unlikely at this point. Sony and Microsoft have both said there will be units in stores at launch, but expect quantities to be very limited.

Update—Oct 4th, 2013
Sam’s Club is currently accepting PS4 pre-orders. They are saying they will ship out on the 15th, so expect to receive it shortly after launch. Nonetheless, this is likely the only place you’ll find that currently has PS4 pre-orders, so hurry!
Update—Aug 31st, 2013
PS4 controller bundle available at Amazon.com SOLD OUT!
This holiday, there are two next-gen consoles being released in Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One. In the United States and Canada, the PS4 will be released November 4th, and the XB1 will be released November 23rd.
Sony has already stated they expect to sell out of PS4s this holiday, and it’s likely the XB1 will do the same. This means if you want one of these next-gen consoles at launch or for Christmas and do not want to worry about store hopping or standing in long lines, your best option is to pre-order while you still can. As you can see from the list, most stores have already sold through their initial PS4 pre-order stock.
This pre-order guide lists some of the pre-order options still available from popular online retail stores. Currently, only US online stores are listed, but we’ll continue to update the list with more information, such as stores in other regions. I only added games for the Amazon section simply because I wanted them on the guide, but it does not make sense to add them on every store since they should be easy to find.
If you know of any stores—online, in other regions, or otherwise where you can pre-order the PS4 and the XB1—please let us know in the comments!
