Panopticon

Sony has just released a trailer for their newest sci-fi title, Panopticon, which is now in the works at Sony’s Japan Studios. This game has been kept in the dark for quite some time, as no information was given about the gameplay, the story, or even which console the game was heading to; only a countdown clock at a teaser website gave consumers any hint of what’s to come. However, Sony looks to finally be opening the lid on this mysterious game, as a new trailer sheds some light on what curious gamers can expect of Panopticon. Have a glimpse at the trailer here:

The trailer shows very little hint of what kind of game Panopticon actually is, but it does give a glimpse of the world players might have to explore. In a foreboding alternate future, Panopticon looks to take place in London, which seems to be under a police state where citizens are rounded up for an unknown crime and taken to a penitentiary that subjects them to a mysterious surgical procedure. We also get glimpses of what looks to be a city that went through an apocalyptic disaster, an army of synthetic androids, guns and swords that virtually appear and disappear at the whim of the user, and giant, cybernetic dragons that look to be the prime enemies.

What is maybe just a coincidence, Sony’s teaser website shows a date of May, 21 2013,  the same day Microsoft will unveil it’s new next-generation console. It’s unknown just what this date means, but more information and maybe even a confirmed release date is a possibility.

Those who wish to can see the teaser website for themselves, but outside of the obscure date and new trailer, there is very little to find there. Sony fans will have to just have to wait and see just where Sony is taking Panopticon next.
