Use the entire review scale please!
All too often I see gamers react to a 7 out of 10 for being a “bad” score. As if for some reason the only possible scores a game can get are 7 through 10. This is absolutely wrong and it needs to stop. I’m here to enlighten you on how exactly each popular review scale […]

REVIEW: Sin and Punishment – Star Successor
Nintendo has often been accused of alienating the “core gamer” demographic with the Wii. Truth is, the Wii has many games that rival those of the other two seventh-generation consoles. One simply has to find them. However, while “core” third-party experiences are a dime a dozen on the console, frequent game droughts have become a […]

‘I’ll Launch You Skyward!’ A Preview of Dragon’s Dogma
Until recently, Dragon’s Dogma had only been a blip on my gaming radar. I’ve seen a screenshot here, a mention there, but it seemed to me like just another generic, medieval-type game; a ‘Skyrim Wannabe,‘ even. In fact, I considered it to be another one of those ‘Japanese developers trying to be American again’ kind […]
Man on Fire: Addressing Nintendo’s Concerns for Fire Emblem: Awakening
I don’t know what it is about the Strategy genre. Something about grids and weapon triangles and controlling anything from a small squad to an entire army just…gets to me. The various staples of the genre have varying degrees of quality in my opinion, so I can’t exactly call it my preferred genre… but games […]
Don’t Judge a Game by its Console
We gamers develop certain views of companies based on their actions. So it is no surprise that “core” gamers do not see the Wii in the greatest of light. It has lots of causal games on it and very few adult titles, sure. But just because the Wii’s library is the way that it […]

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 Localization
Cheer, up, Ace Attorney fans. We may be getting Ace Attorney Investigations 2 after all. It just won’t be on a cartridge on the DS. This is not unusual. Ace Attorney (known then as Gyakuten Saiban) was originally published on the Game Boy Advance. However, extraordinarily high import rates led Nintendo and Capcom to localize […]
25 Useful Tips While Playing Xenoblade Chronicles
Here are 25 Tips I learned while playing the game.
A brief overview of localization
One of the most critical parts of bringing a game over is localization. Translation is the act of rendering one language into another. Localization is making sure the new words actually make sense in the new culture and it fits the physical constraints of the game.. Let’s start off at the basics. When a game […]
