UPDATE: Just hours after this article went up, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter 4G would be coming to the West under the title Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. You can read the story at this link.
Monster Hunter 4 is not even a year old in Japan, and already the inevitable G version has been announced.
The announcement was made at the Monster Hunter Festa event in Japan, which is currently still going on. Save data from Monster Hunter 4 will be able to carry over to 4G. What exactly will be carried over is currently unknown. I’m guessing it will be gear, items, HR and so on, so you can continue right from where you left off in 4 and get stuck into the G Rank portion of the game.
Accompanying the announcement was a trailer; check it out below:
Monster Hunter 4G will be a 3DS exclusive, and be released in Japan in autumn. Nothing has been heard of a Western release, for either 4G or even 4.
The official website has already been launched, and can be located here.
For those unaware of the difference, each generation of Monster Hunter games has a G version, which adds news monsters, new weapons, and a whole new level of difficulty for the hunter. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, for example, is the G version of Monster Hunter Tri.
Personally, I think this will be the version that hits Western shores. There will most likely be added monsters and maybe even some new areas in 4G, just as there was in 3 Ultimate. What do all of you think?
