Ladies and gentlemen, I think Christopher Walken said it best with this little gem:
“Wow! Wowee wow wow wow!”
And that pretty much sums up what I have to say about Monster Hunter 4‘s launch in this week’s Media Create charts. Chalk up another killer app for the 3DS. And from reports, we should see that number go well above 2,000,000 next week. I believe this calls for a victory shot.
No, not that one.
Not that one either.
There we go.
And while we’re at it, I’d like to say just one thing. Please, Nintendo, help Capcom localize this game for Western audiences.
Actually, we on the oprainfall staff are pretty much in agreement that the game will see a release in North American and PAL regions. However, it will probably take about a year to a year-and-a-half to release over here. We’ll see.
To be honest, aside from the 200,000+ spike in 3DS sales and 1.7 million units moved for MH4, this week kind of looks like a down week. Other than MH4, no game sold above 30,000 units. And other consoles didn’t fair too well, either. Then again, if you have a game that everyone wants to buy, the incentive to buy anything else kind of drops.
But it’s kind of sad that neither the Wii U nor the PS Vita has that killer app that can drive people to the stores like that. When Pikmin 3 was released, console sales barely moved. Vita sales did spike when they had the price drop, but they haven’t really had that one game that would drive people to constantly buy the system. The 3DS has had at least three in the past year and even more before that. Here’s hoping they can both find that killer app.
