The recently announced Attack on Titan game for the Nintendo 3DS has officially been given a title and a release date. The game will be called Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind and is set to release in Japan December 5th, 2013.
A few other details about the game have also been revealed. The Last Wings of Mankind will be an action game and will try to emulate the fast-paced style of the anime. One of the ways developer Spike Chunsoft plans to do this is by allowing the use of 3D Maneuver Gear in battle. In addition to the single-player gameplay, there will be a four-player multiplayer option. You will also be able to create and train your own characters. NPCs will accompany you in battle; if captured by a Titan, you can cut off its arm to rescue them. Unsurprisingly, however, if you are captured and eaten by a Titan, it will result in a game over. The game’s story mode will feature protagonists Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert as playable characters.
Overall, it sounds like an exciting release for any Attack on Titan fan. Unfortunately, there has been no news of the game seeing a release anywhere outside Japan. However, if you are an Attack on Titan fan or someone who’s just getting into the series, the anime is streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu, and the first few volumes of the manga can be purchased from Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and Amazon.co.uk.
