Chances are good that you know about Psychonauts, even if you’ve never played it. It was one of the most critically acclaimed games of the mid-2000s, yet very few people actually bought it. One of the reasons might be the way it was advertized. See, Double Fine didn’t go for the standard kind of commercial that you see on your typical TV stations. They partnered with G4 back when the channel was in its infancy to produce a series of bumpers staring the various characters from the game. Unfortunately, since G4 was relatively niche at that point, it didn’t get as much exposure as it could have. Regardless, the Operation Rainfall Retro Commercial Research Team (in other words, me) decided to show you these bumpers in this week’s Retro Wrap-Up.
Here are the highlights of this past week.
Steve Baltimore reviewed Swords and Soldiers 3D for the 3DS, Josh Speer reviewed Project X Zone and Phil Schipper reviewed Shin Megami Tensei IV as well as Octodad in this week’s Games of the Past review.
Meanwhile, Square explains why Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be skipping the Xbox.
