Some new short videos for Acquire and ZeroDiv’s upcoming Playstation Vita game, MIND≒0, have been uploaded for everyone’s viewing pleasure. The selected videos detail small glimpses of the story’s prologue and the battle system, where you fight monsters across Japan with the help of summoned “MIND” partners.
According to the translations provided by Siliconera, we have a dialogue scene where Kei Takanashi, the game’s protagonist, listens to a female student saying something. She talks about a horror story where an axe-wielding man who kills anyone opening a certain door, and we are suddenly transported to a rainy street where we hear a boy scream.
After a small series of events, we see a CG screen involving an encounter between Kei’s classmate, a baffled Sana Chikage, and a grotesque looking man. As Sana asks Kei to look after the child, something mysterious grabs him by the leg, and transports him into someplace deeper: a library filled with books and weapons.
Kei meets a shady woman who calls herself “Undertaker,” and is asked to “choose a weapon and live… or choose a weapon and die…”
And now we get into the battle system, which uses a traditional turn-based format. In this brief video, we see a skirmish between Kei, Sana, and a third character, and some enemies. In this particular scene, we see Kei using his MIND partner to attack, while his other two allies fight without special assistance. The MIND partner deals long-distance and elemental attacks against the enemies, making them MP-consuming. The game looks similar to Persona by having characters fight with supernatural allies, but our other article about MIND≒0 gets into more detail about the battle system.
MIND≒0 for the PlayStation Vita is arriving in Japan on August 1. Hopefully, as the game is published by Gung Ho Online Entertainment, it can be considered to see an overseas release by its western divisions.
