And this is why I need a new list of when things come out in Japan. A few weeks back, I listed Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D as a game that would be part of a bump across the board for sales. Turns out, the list I was using was incorrect. But either way, the game has topped the Media Create charts.
And for another week, we see stagnant sales in software and most hardware. The 3DS claims 12 spots with Nintendo as a whole claiming 15 out of 20. However, this is hardly Nintendomination again. It took 2,224 units for New Super Mario Bros. U to claim the 20th spot. A game selling 5,000 units could’ve easily made the top 10. And only two games sold more than 20,000 units last week.
On the hardware side, there’s nothing much to say other than there being a 7,000-unit jump in sales from the previous week. Also of note is that the Vita sold 24,000 fewer units in this same week last year. However, there are two things to know about this: 1) this was the week last year that Persona 4 Golden was released and 2) the Vita is still up 170,000 units overall from last year.
Other than that, we should be hitting a couple of milestones before the end of the year with Wii U topping 1 million, and the PSP topping 20 million.
