Some time before E3 2012 began, it was announced that Last Guardian would not appear during the Expo this year. Sony has come out and re-iterated this today, but Sony’s senior vice president of product development, Scott Rohde, explained that Team ICO is just too hard at work to have the game make an appearance.

Further he went on: “I will not give you a detailed update, but I will say one thing. It goes back in my mind to innovation and to gamers and to quality. That title is going to ship when it is absolutely ready.

He made it clear that there is no dead line to meet for Last Guardian. Then he continued on, “And I think that’s a really important thing to remember, that it would be very easy to ship a game when it’s not quite ready because we need to meet a business plan. Gamers are first. And the experience that we provide is first. And that’s why we’re going to talk about that game when we’re ready to talk about it.

Last Guardian was first announced at E3 2009, and the buzz has never stopped. Fans, while very cynical, still wait nonetheless for any sort of news. The trailer they showed off years back has continued to awe people, with Team ICO’s signature art style, and way of presenting a story.

We still have high hopes, and wish Sony and Team ICO the best.

Maybe TGS? Who knows? But what we do know is, we still eagerly anticipate this game’s release. The boy on an adventure with his canine friend is still being worked on, for sure.
