When the Xbox One was revealed, many gamers criticized Microsoft of not showing off any games. However, with E3 close by, it made sense for Microsoft to keep their cards hidden when it came to gaming. Today, they revealed what they have coming to the new console, as well as what is left of the Xbox 360. Let’s have a look…
The conference started out with a gameplay trailer of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. In the video, we were given our first look at Kiefer Sutherland as Snake.
Following the trailer came a rather odd announcement. A new version of the Xbox 360 will be coming to retail. In addition, anyone with an Xbox Live Gold membership will be given two free games every month before the Xbox One comes out, starting with Assassin’s Creed II and Halo 3.
After the announcement, a number of trailers were shown. These were World of Tanks, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, and Dark Souls II.
After those trailers, they began the Xbox One portion with Ryse: Son of Rome, a hack-‘n’-slash that had been hinted at for some time. The game was initially going to be a Kinect-only game but was retooled for regular controls.
Following that was the reveal of the next Killer Instinct. Check out our article on it here.
Sunset Overdrive is next, created by Insomniac. Check out our article here.
Forza Motorsport 5 was talked about next. But who cares about that? They had an awesome McLaren P1 on set.
The next Xbox One game shown was Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. Already on the Xbox 360, the Xbox One version will feature additional content.
Following that was Quantum Break, first revealed at the Xbox One show. Check out our latest article on the game here.
D4 is a new game by SWERY65, creator of Deadly Premonition. Check out our article on the game here.
Next game on the docket was Project Spark. The game starts from mostly nothing and allows you to create land, creatures, and most anything you can think of. The game will be SmartGlass-enabled.
Speaking of SmartGlass, they showed off various ways you can use it. You can use it to purchase add-ons, check on progress in your current level, and look for matches in various games. They showed this off with a match in Killer Instinct.
Crimson Dragon was next, but unfortunately you couldn’t hear it—much to the chagrin of the crowd. However, the game looked pretty good.
After that was the premier of Dead Rising 3. The game will feature a new protagonist, Nick. The developers showed off a number of features in the game.
Next up is CD Projekt RED with new game footage for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game will have a number of Xbox One features integrated, including SmartGlass.
After The Witcher 3 was Battlefield 4, which provided an interesting highlight for the day. I’m of course talking about the technical issue that happened before they could show off the gameplay. But after some waiting—and some laughing that I’m sure our guys did at the show—the gameplay started.
Microsoft then announced they would be investing in five developers to create new content exclusively for Xbox One. They showed off one of the games, Below.
After talking about those games, they showed off a teaser trailer for the next major Halo game. This comes off the heels of the reveal for the Halo TV series and Halo: Spartan Assault on Windows.
After the Halo reveal, they talked about the Xbox One release window. While not giving it a specific date, they announced that they will release the Xbox One this November for $499 in the United States, €499 throughout Europe, and £429 in the United Kingdom.
To close off the conference, they showed off one more exclusive for the Xbox One, Titanfall. The game is developed by Respawn Entertainment and will be a first-person shooter that allows you to fight inside a mech.
