Or maybe she has no idea what Tenchi Muyo is, and you just need something to watch between now and Monday. Either way, you’re in luck! In celebration of Mother’s Day, the movie Tenchi Muyo in Love! is available to stream free via Funimation’s website.
The movie is normally a part of their Elite Video Subscription service, but anyone can watch the film commercial-free and in their choice of English or Japanese until this coming Monday (May 13).
It’s a classic time-travel plot: the villain Kain breaks out of prison and is determined to eliminate his present-day foes. The solution? Travel back in time and kill Tenchi’s mother before he can even be born. When the Tenchi crew starts to realize that Tenchi is fading out of space and time, they make their own trip back to 1970 to stop Kain before his plan can be fully realized.
Tenchi Muyo in Love! was the first of the Tenchi Muyo films and premiered in 1996. You can watch it on Funimation dubbed or subbed.
