10 More tips you may find useful while you play Xenoblade Chronicles.
1- Get the Most out of Gem Crafting. So you might be wondering what exactly is the purpose of the gentle flame, medium flame, and strong flame.
Gentle Flame– Use to turn ether crystals into cylinders to get as close to 99% as possible without going over. You want to use a gentle flame when you are trying to raise low percentage ether crystals into higher percentage cylinders without going over 100%. You also use a gentle flame to separate types by making each type into its own cylinder. If you go over 100 a gem is made and you don’t want that if you are aiming for heated (200%) gems. It’s best to use about 10 different types, each with a percentage below 50. Best duo is Shooter Sharla and Engineer Riki.
Medium Flame. You want a medium flame when trying to heat (200%) or megaheat (300%) more than one crystals or cylinders. This should only be used on ether crystals that contain high percentages already, that you can’t seperate the types into their own cylinders by using a gentle flame. You should only use around 2-5 types per turn at most. Best duo is Shooter Melia and Engineer Fiora.
Strong Flame. This is used for heating (200%) or megaheating (300%) gems with 1 type. You take two crystals or cylinders with a combination percentage as close to 200 as possible. Best duo is Shooter Shulk and Engineer Reyn.
So, use gentle flame to raise percentages to get as close to 99% as possible as well as to separate types into their own cylinders, use strong flame to combine two crystals or cylinders to make a heated or megaheated gem. Medium flame should only be used on crystals containing more than one high percentage that cannot be separated by a gentle flame.
2- Gem Crafting Speed. The Game Crafting Speed does not effect the gem process in Xenoblade Chronicles. You can alter the speed just to speed up the process. Oh, and instead of pressing A repeatedly, hold down A for super fast speed!
3- Spike Damage. Spike damage is most commonly found on unique enemies and higher leveled enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles. Spike damage shows up as blue text in battle. If you are getting wiped out by an enemy and you cannot explain why, check to make sure you are not getting spike damage. The best way to avoid spike damage is to use Shulk’s purge ability which will negate it for around 15 seconds. There are also spike defense gems and skills.
4- Build-up Topple and Daze. Topple and Daze stack up, so if you have a topple combo in a chain attack, the enemy will stay down by how many times it was hit by topple or daze. If you can get a three topple combo in, it might be enough to keep the enemy down until you can use another chain attack. It’s a great end-game strategy for the hard unique enemies.
5- End Game Useful Gems. The gems that you should be aiming to get at end-game are the topple plus gems, the debuff resist gems, the topple and daze resist gems, double attack, haste, Hp Plus, Agility, Night Vision, Critical up, and AP Plus if you need AP.
6- Useful Skills. Probably the most useful skill in the game is the double attacks do critical damage skill, combined with the criticals heal skill of Dunban. Other useful skills to equip are critical damage up, double attack up, agility up, armor weight down, heal after chain attacks, and Riki’s silver and then gold chests up abilities. Of course everybody plays differently but these are some of the best.
7- Skills Stats Stack On Top of Gem Stats. Let’s say you max out agility through equipping gems, but you also have a skill that raises agility. Even if you max out agility with gems, you can add to your agility by equipping skills. Gem stats and skill stats are exclusive.
8-Defeating Enemies 6 Levels Higher. It’s not impossible to defeat an enemy 6 levels above you in Xenoblade Chronicles. Maxing out agility gems and skills, and equipping night vision gems can help you land hits. Also, try entering the battle with a full party gauge and then unleash a chain attack. Use break and then topple arts to keep it down. You will always hit a toppled enemy regardless of level.
9- Special Quests– Even if you prefer not to do quests, you should know that there are special quests that unlock abilities and skills. These are not missable.
10- 10Am, Noon, 10PM, Midnight. NPCs will say different things at these different times, and therefore could have a conversation you need to unlock a quest depending on the time.
