NINTENDO SWITCH 2 ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS.

I saw that announcement a few days ago (this column runs on a Wednesday to Tuesday week, thanks to when January 1st, 2025, fell) and my first thought was: “darn, it won’t be coming out this year during Tom Nook’s Snapshots!”.

A new resort? Slumber island? New characters and items?

Tom Nook’s Snapshots may run for more than just 2025, now…I cannot wait for this game to come out on January 15, 2026!

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, you can check it out here.

Planting a flag in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I spent today working on clearing out all the flowers in my outdoor gym in the rain. It proved to be more difficult than I expected, as I have very limited inventory space at the moment, and so I could only dig up a handful before I would have to make my way over to the trash can to throw them all away. After I finished that, I dug up and moved more of the trees in the area before setting up a flag I bought in the store earlier in the day.

It is funny: I somehow lose an incredible amount of time in my day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons whenever I try to landscape, since it takes so much time to get it all just right!

Cranston visiting my island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The parade of weirdos that visit my island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons continued today with Cranston. It is only as I am writing this that I desperately wish I could have him and his special brand of chaos on my island. He opened our conversation with asking about the island’s specialty. Does he talk about apples, oranges, or pears? NOPE. He starts asking about fruits, fish, shellfish, and then word plays them until we wind up with “Fruitshells?”, which makes NO SENSE.

The second time I talked to him, he explained how you can hear way more outside noises in a tent that in a house – which, fair enough. He then explains that he can hear more house noises when inside a tent then outside of a tent, and yet he never hears tent noises no matter where he puts it. He then blames it all on ‘science.’ All of this is nonsensical, and yet I love it.

I spent way more time talking to Cranston and trying to figure him and his insanity out. After stopping by Brewster’s and getting a cup of hot coffee for 200 Bells that was hot and fresh, I visited the Able Sisters and got a new pattern from Sable and gifted Goose a nutcracker.

Celebrating Snooty's birthday.

Today is Snooty’s birthday! Before I headed over, I shook down and then chopped down a new money tree and went shopping at Nook’s Cranny. I bought a table busting set I installed next to my outdoor dishwashing station.

Of course, I then headed over to Snooty’s residence. She said it was so “YOU” for me to give her a glass holder with candle (whatever that meant?), and she told me that she doesn’t think she’ll ever get tired of birthday cake and “lovingly selected gifts.” She also cried, despite telling herself she wouldn’t, because everyone came to celebrate her today. Cephalobot was there too, and he was clear I shouldn’t be spending my time talking to him on Snooty’s birthday!

Overall, it was a great party.

K.K. Slider playing in the plaza.

It is Saturday, and you know what that means: More K.K. Slider! For me, Hazel, Tutu, and Hugh, he played Lucky K.K. tonight.

It was slightly magical, even though I have heard it before. I wish I could remember to pull out a set of concern penlights before I go to listen to his concert. I am sad I am always the only one to not have them on hand to light up whenever K.K. is bringing down the Animal Crossing: New Horizons house!

Digging up a shining money spot.

It is very, very rare that I get to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons close to dawn. So today, when I was able to get on incredibly early, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to just watch the sun rise and plant a money tree. I also found a Lost Item I am pretty sure belongs to Tybalt, but I couldn’t find him in time to return it to him. Finally, I ran around and caught a bunch of butterflies…and I finally caught a monarch butterfly!

I took it to the museum, and Blathers told me the monarch butterfly migrates south for the winter and then returns north for the summer across 3,000 miles. That is a long distance, and it makes me wonder where my island falls along their trip for me to run into them!

Goose giving me an apple.

Tybalt talked with me about leaving my island today, and I convinced him to stay. Maybe if I had taken the time to return what was probably his lost item yesterday, he would have felt more appreciated to be here with me. Other than that, I chopped down another money tree, sold off a bunch of weeds to Leif, and I hung out with Goose at my home.

After my conversation with Tybalt earlier, I realized I needed to let myself be open to spending time with my islanders, even when I am just home for a few moments to look for an item. So, I hung out with Goose for a while, and he gave me an apple!

Boxing ring wallpaper inside the home.

It has taken almost a full year, but Saharah finally clicked with me as I ran into her tonight, and I bought everything she could possibly sell me and just loaded down my inventory.

Long time readers of Tom Nook’s Cranny will remember that much earlier in the year, I set up what amounted to a boxing gym in the back room of my home – at least, until I ended up moving it all outside and to the north-eastern corner of my island a few months ago. Today, I got an animated boxing ring wallpaper, and I immediately threw it up onto my wall and put the old wrestling ring flooring back down.

I am now going to buy everything she puts out each time she comes to visit, and hope that I get something as equally amazing as that animated wallpaper because it is cool.

What is your favorite Saharah wallpaper?
