A new sinister, enigmatic entity known as Dokyo made its debut at Gamescom in Germany with the release of the newest trailer for Onimush: Way of the Sword. Hidden deep beneath Kyoto in a secret laboratory, this creature creates new and twisted Genma, including Greater Nue a chimera that harnesses lightning; Kogashira, warped humans who create poisonous clouds of malice; and Chijiko, interwoven human faces with far-reaching tentacles. Protagonist Musashi Miyamoto will wield his own abilities to counter this evil, deflecting projectiles and parrying attacks. Blazing State gives Musashi a temporary offensive power-up triggered by multiple parries and generates Blue Souls that fuel his Oni Power, while Soul Absorption can recover health from defeated foes, enhance equipment and unlock new abilities. Musashi can also utilize his iconic Issen, striking enemies a split second before they land a blow to unleash a high risk, high reward counterattack.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
