Six years after their first collaboration, Square Enix and Capcom are teaming up once again for a Monster Hunter x Final Fantasy XIV crossover event, this time for Monster Hunter Wilds and FFXIV: Dawntrail.
Final Fantasy XIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida joined Monster Hunter Wilds Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto on stage at Gamescom in Germany to reveal the collaboration, which launches later this year. Based on the teaser trailer above, chocobos and cactuars will grace the Forbidden Lands, along with Omega Planetes for a new monster encounter. In the trailer below, you can see the addition to FFXIV, including seikrets as a new mount and the White Wraith Arkveld in what appears to be a new trial. The crossover will begin in Wilds in September and then head to XIV in October.
This collaboration comes six months after the launch of Wilds and just on the heels of Patch 7.3 of Dawntrail. The previous collaboration launched during Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood and featured The Great Hunt trial with rathalos, along with a palico minion and Monster Hunter-inspired gear, while Monster Hunter World received Final Fantasy-inspired gear and chocobos.
