As much as I can this week, I decided to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons during the daytime and not late at night. I want to see what is going on with my island during the sunshine hours instead of when everything is about to shutdown and my islanders are going to bed.

There has to be lots of stuff going on, and new insects and fish to collect, that I want to do and see before the summer ends. I know change is coming, and so I want to enjoy the good ol’ days now while I still recognize them to be such.

Now, to pay off that home loan…and catch everything I possibly can!

Animal Crossing | Choosing my outfit for the week.

Today, I picked out a bright summer clothing theme for the week, inspired (mentally, at least) by the Nintendo GameCube’s 2002 release of Super Mario Sunshine! I would like to think my character would fit in perfectly on Isle Delfino with the Piantas.

Other than that, Hazel stopped by to visit me today. She played around with the various things in my home for a bit and commented on them. Once she left, I made a few thousand Bells hitting rocks and selling fruit from my island before throwing it at my home loan. After that, I visited Isabelle to see if I could update the island ordinance…But it turns out I need 20,000 Bells to do that.

Unfortunately, I don’t have quite that much left over at the moment…

Animal Crossing | Blathers explains what he finds almost tolerable.

Today, there were so many insects out and about that I totally spent my day just catching whatever I could and donating them to Blathers to add to my Animal Crossing: New Horizons museum.

I caught a Madagascan sunset moth, which apparently has red feet as a caterpillar, I found a darner dragonfly that can fly up to 40 miles an hour, and I found a walking leaf that IS A LIE. (according to Blathers). Heading back into the field, I found myself a giant cicada and a robust cicada. I think they both look the same, but at least Blathers knows differently…even though he says that both sound awful.

Animal Crossing | Gayle giving away clothing she doesn't need to me.

I decided to move the gym setup out of my home and instead set it up in the northern part of my island. I went up there and cleared out a ton of roses today, and I ordered the last neutral corner I need through the Nook Shopping kiosk.

I caught an arias butterfly as well, and I ended up giving it away to Gayle after she gave me a football shirt at random. After I gave her the insect though, she insisted on giving me another basketball tank! I didn’t ask for it, but I am definitely appreciative of the gift!

Animal Crossing | Catching fish as part of the tournament on the ocean shore.

Today is C.J.’s fishing tourney!

You have three minutes to catch as many fish as you can! Each fish is popped automatically into C.J.’s cooler so you don’t have to juggle your inventory along with everything else. I definitely participated in this event, and my favorite task was to catch a minimum of three fish in order to hit the bonus points.

This time around, I caught a brand-new fish to donate to my museum: a suckerfish. It uses a suction cup on its head to attach itself to larger marine life. I ultimately decided to just bank my points this go around, so I can cash them in instead next time C.J. hosts the event.

Paying off my home loan!

I caught myself an earth-boring dung beetle today that I just hung onto. I don’t know if I’m going to sell it or give it away as a gift, but I will find a use for it.

Also…I PAID OFF MY HOME LOAN.

All of that banging on rocks and selling crops and fruit and planting money trees finally paid off! I will take another loan, but I’m going to wait a few days to do it first. I just want to enjoy being debt free for once.

Catching a Queen Alexandra's birdwing butterfly.

Today, not a whole lot happened.

I caught two Queen Alexandra’s birdwing butterflies, which was super nice, since I needed it for my Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ museum. This thing has a massive foot-long wingspan! Thankfully, Flick was around today and so I sold him both my extra one and the beetle that I caught yesterday for quite the tidy profit.

Other than that, I got my extra neutral corner in the mail so I popped that last piece into place to build my outside boxing ring. Next up? Other gym equipment…

Tom Nook telling me my new room is being built.

I couldn’t stay away.

The new room (and all the space that comes with it) was beckoning to me.

So, I took Tom Nook up on his deal: a new room added to my home for the low price of 758,000 Bells. There’s no interest, and I can pay when I can. But that’s a lot of Bells that I will have to repay.

The construction will be done by tomorrow morning, and I’m a little surprised I wasn’t offered the opportunity to have a new roof color or anything else.

Other than that, I saw Saharah, and I did not buy anything from her…and so ends another week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

How long has it taken you to pay off your home loans?
