Game Developer’s Conference, also known as GDC, is my favorite industry event that I cover each year. It is also probably the most draining event that I attend every year. It is the one event that I get to attend that is industry and media only. It also means I am frequently running around, making and keeping appointments, and praying it isn’t going to rain in downtown San Francisco.
This year, I opted to take the Amtrak into town each day instead of staying nearby GDC itself. This meant my day was starting around 4:30 AM and not wrapping up until almost 9:30 PM.
Very, very long days.
If you’re curious about why my column for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a bit light this week- then, well, that’s why. The important thing is that, for me at least, I was still able to somehow find time to play this game every day and keep my year-long streak alive!
If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, then you can find it here!

Today, I stopped by the Renassia Museum, and I saw that Blathers was pondering something. This was quite unusual, as all he seems to do is sleep at day and stay up all night. It turns out that he wants to EXPAND the museum, and he wants to get his old friend Brewster in on it.
Then, suddenly, I am tasked with finding Brewster for him.
Huh?
I’m given a portrait of him and told to go to various islands to look for gyroids to attract Brewster. I agreed, a bit under protest (admittedly), since you would think Blathers would be in a better position to do this than me…seeing as he’s met Brewster before…and all I have is a photograph to go off of.

Today, Label set up shop in the plaza!
She gave me a vampire costume, which was appropriate considering how late it was for me after that day at GDC was over, and told me to dress goth. I threw the costume over what I was wearing, kept the hat and backpack and shoes on…And apparently that was absolutely goth! I had no idea that I was so close to being goth with my outfits to begin with.
Other than that, I dug up five fossils, identified them, and then donated enough fossils to finish off my Brachiosaurus! I also talked to Tutu, planted a new money tree, and that…was about it. I was honestly so tired by this point that all I wanted to do was sleep in real life.

I’ve had a LOT of campers come to my island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to spend the night, vet the place…and they have all been really annoying so far. I’ve gotten possible islanders that just want to talk about snacks, or have a poor attitude, or any number of things.
So, when Camofrog came about…I was skeptical. But he quickly won me over! I had to keep playing a guessing game with him of “Guess the Card Suit” until I got it right and he said he was moving to my island~! And with that, there is no more room to let future islanders join in.

After visiting Nook’s Cranny and Nook Shopping, I stopped by Camofrog’s place to see how he was settling in. There are boxes everywhere, but I love the wallpaper and the flooring!
Other than that, I dug up fossils…and honestly did not do a lot else. GDC week tends to take a lot out of me, to be honest.

I was definitely not expecting to see three of my fellow islanders follow me to the plaza to see K.K. Slider perform this week. It was really cool- especially when they pulled out glow sticks to cheer him on as he sang! I’ve never seen that before.
I tried to push Gonzo to come join us all, but he never sat down. That’s unfortunate, since I think he would like a concert on Saturday nights if he tried to attend it.

Today, I decided that I should try to find Brewster.
I tried to go to an island with Kap’n, who is on the far east side of my island, but he refused to take me. So, I ended up having to go to Dodo Airlines and get on a plane with Wilbur to go find an island!
I looked high and low, but I could not find anyone there but myself and Wilbur- who said he has to burn the flight plans after I visit the island (what the heck?). I ended up chopping down all the trees for wood, fished up a bunch of fish, and banged on a bunch of rocks for materials. At one point, my shovel disappeared and so I had to pay Wilbur 100 Bells for another shovel.
Ultimately, my Brewster search was fruitless. I will have to try again another day…

Gulliver- I’m sorry, Gullivarrr, just happens to wash up on my shore, in a pirate outfit, outside my home, by coincidence?
I don’t buy it.
He speaks like a pirate, uses pirate puns, and got stranded when he went overboard. I ended up diving into the ocean to recover his communicator as he made pirate puns.
Afterwards, I shook down and chopped down a money tree, dug up a fossil, picked and sold crops, and visited some townsfolx. It was a fairly chill day, and end of the week, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Next week, though? The hunt for Brewster will be heating up. I KNOW he has to be out there, somewhere…
What all did you accomplish this week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
Does Gulliver/Gullivarrr ever wash up somewhere a little TOO convenient on your island?
