We here at oprainfall don’t just love video games: we’re big fans of anime, too. So in celebration of the medium, we’re here to give you our thoughts on what we’ve been watching each week as we watch it. Old, new – anything goes.
Currently Airing:
SPY x Family
I am going to miss watching SPY x Family every week, but at least this cour ended with one of the most adorable episodes to date. Seeing Loid run ragged to keep up with his family but also dozens of other cases provided fantastic comic relief, especially at the aquarium, but the best bit of the episode was definitely the last five minutes. Loid and Yor pretending to be Anya’s spy subordinates on the way to the sweets shop had me in stitches. It was absurd and sweet all at the same time, and really cemented how much Anya has come to mean to her parents. This fake family grows more real with every passing day, and it makes me super happy to see. – Leah

Komi Can’t Communicate
Komi continues to be my happy anime every week, and this latest episode was no exception. After their group day out in Kyoto, Komi, Sasaki and Kato spend their free day gallivanting about Kansai, visiting amusement parks, the deer at Nara, grabbing takoyaki from a street vendor, and even hitting up a movie theme park. It’s great to see Komi interact with others in her class than just Tadano and Najimi. The three girls really seemed to gel in ways we haven’t seen with other classmates except Onemine, and I really loved the little girl talk they had after Movie Land. It was also refreshing to see the hopes and dreams of others in Komi’s class, and Kato’s shogi instincts were a lot of fun. Of course, the best part of the episode was the bus ride home. Like Sasaki, I’m cheering Komi and Tadano on in their relationship. – Leah

Love After World Domination
The last episode of the season starts off with a disagreement between Fudo and Desumi over a commercial Fudo is set to be in. Desumi is feeling down because of this, and Fudo – in an attempt to make up for it – takes up baking. The main focus of the episode is that the Gekko monster being being worked on since the first episode has been completed. It is not what is expected and does not follow orders. The members of Gekko attempt to fight it only to do very little to it. It goes to town and ends up near Fudo. From there, the Gelato 5 members appear and the result is similar to Gekko’s attack. The episode had more action going on than most of the previous ones. We get some glimpses of other Gekko members, too. Without getting too much into it, Desumi and Fudo reconcile to solve the problem. Overall, I thought it was a good way to end the season. – Walter
