We here at oprainfall don’t just love video games: we’re big fans of anime, too. So in celebration of the medium, we’re here to give you our thoughts on what we’ve been watching each week as we watch it. Old, new – anything goes.
Currently Airing:
Skeleton Knight in Another World
I decided to give this a try and watched a few episodes of it. The beginning of the first episode hits fast and by the time the opening theme finished I knew I was going to keep going with this one. It follows Arc in a somewhat standard set up of a gamer appearing in a fantasy world and being overpowered. Just off of looks it did give me a feeling of Overlord, which helped get my interest. The thing that really brought me in was the sense of fun the series gives off with Arc’s personality. I’m looking to start up the light novels for it in the future. – Walter

SPY x Family
After last week’s cliffhanger, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Yor and Loid’s “proof of love” kiss that Yuri asked for, but I can definitely say I did not expect what actually happened. Once again SPY x Family flexes not only its comedy chops, but some gorgeous animation as our idiots can’t even perform the simplest of things. Yuri’s obsession with Yor is still personally annoying, but it made for some great moments as he tried to stop his sister from kissing Loid (despite asking her to do it in the first place). Yor’s inability to hold liquor once again brought out her inhuman strength where Loid could see it, and Loid himself was the straight man in this comedy of errors and his expressions were immaculate. More than the opening set piece with Yuri, though, I liked how the rest of the episode dealt with Loid and Yor’s worries over their sham marriage and how each of them was concerned about Anya’s observation that “Mama and Papa need to get along.” This fake family might be together for everyone’s convenience, but seeing how there are real emotions and connections forming beneath the veneer is honestly compelling and I just want these idiots to be happy and together forever. – Leah

Love After World Domination
Starting off where we last ended, Desumi’s father comes for a visit. He isn’t alone though and brings Urami, Desumi’s younger sister. Fudo – still pretending to be a member of Gekko – attempts to support Desumi, but is told to stay out by the two. Though he does break ground with Desumi’s father, a lifelong member of the society. He is far from his daughter’s ability and instead is a master of being defeated. Urami is a different matter though. The episode focuses heavily on Urami and Desumi and shows the difference of how members of her family look at things differently than Desumi. I feel that there was more of an emphasis on the relationship of the two than anything, so to me the comedy took a bit of a rest compared to some of the other episodes. – Walter
