It’s been a bit since I got a chance to review one of MangaGamer’s fine releases, but when I got a chance to take a look at CLOCKUP’s Erovoice, I jumped on it. I had a great time with How to Live a Healthy Hentai Lifestyle, so I figured this would be a quality nukige as well. Let’s see if my assumption was correct.
The story of Erovoice follows a young man named Daiki. He is just about to graduate from college and doesn’t really know where his life is headed, but one thing he knows for sure is he loves erotic voices. He loves them in games, anime and voice dramas. So long as there is a great erotic voice there, he is a happy camper. He decides to look for work until he can figure out what to do with himself, when he comes across a job that fits him perfectly. It’s a General Affairs position at a nearby placed called Cuckoo Clock. This is an agency that manages voice actresses who perform mainly in adult entertainment. He rushes down there and lands an interview. After a very unique and lewd interview process, he lands the job. His journey into the world of erotic voice actors has begun, and will lead him to very good places.
There is no big, deep story here. This title very much a nukige, through and through, but that’s not a bad thing. The characters here have enough interesting quirks that it keeps each of the routes, and sub-routes, very interesting. I won’t dig into the sub routes in this review, but just note that in each main character route, there will be a single choice that will put you on those girls’ routes.
Iroha is a brand new hire at the agency. She is very inexperienced, and has a little trouble finding her footing, even if she is fresh out of voice acting school. The things she does with Daiki take the words method acting to a whole other level. Hasumi is the sound engineer at the studio. She is very shy and reserved. She hides out in there often to avoid dealing with people. Working with Daiki brings her out of her shell a little bit as those two perform some very lewd acts in that office. Pantyhose while going commando is a total win here! Anyway, the two of them will run into a huge problem at the agency that they will need to overcome together. Touko is the office manager, and to call her scatterbrained would be an understatement. She is an earnest woman, however, and though she has never been with a man, she is very interested to try out some of the scenarios presented in all the erotic games that have been made there. Daiki is very willing to help her out in this endeavor. When you first meet the very small and adorable Sekai, she will come off as an oppressive tyrant. She is a very hard worker, and has a lot of recognition in the industry due to her work as many loli characters. She becomes very attached to Daiki when he becomes her manager, and an internet scandal erupts soon after. There will be lots of strife for the two, and the question is, can they overcome it? The last main character here is the boss lady, Midori. She is a very well known voice actress that decided to leave a bigger company and freelance on her own. She is on good terms with all the people she used to work with, and she can be a hard worker when she’s not drinking like a fish. She takes a liking to Daiki very quickly, and makes him her personal assistant. She wants to give the boy many rewards in a fashion that most guy would find really pleasant.
I’m not sure if it was because voices were the subject matter here, or this cast was just plain fire, but this has one of the best cast of voice actors I’ve ever heard. These girls are all very good at making these characters and scenes come to life. I would highly suggest a good pair of headphones for this one, if you don’t want to share your nukige goodness with anyone else in your house, or the neighbors for that matter. These actors get really into these scenes, and things can get very loud at times. There was a nice feature here that lets you bookmark voice lines throughout the game, so you could easily find them if you wanted to replay them later. I felt this was a very fitting little addition for this title.
The H-scene artwork was top tier, just like other CLOCKUP titles. Erovoice is a bit tamer than some of their previous works. There are still plenty of kinks here, but nothing very extreme. I felt there was a good variety of scenes, and each one fit into the story like a glove. There are many variations on each image, and each of the main characters has thirteen scenes, expect for Midori who has about half that many. The sub characters will have three or four scenes each as well, so there is plenty of lewd action here to please nukige fans.
While I wouldn’t say Erovoice was a deep experience, it was an enjoyable one. The characters have enough quirks to keep them interesting, and it was fun to see what kind of crazy situations this man would find himself in next. There are plenty of quality H-scenes, and the voice acting here is top notch. The game is not super long, clocking in at around 11 hours. But, I still feel like nukige fans will get their money’s worth at the $44.95 price tag. This one is certainly one of the times when it is quality over quantity, and there is not a thing wrong with that.
