Playtonic Friends recently announced their first step into games publishing. Now they have announced that the next title entering their list of projects is BPM: Bullets Per Minute. Developed by Awe Interactive, it first launched on Steam back in September of 2020. Now it will be coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year, according to Playtonic Friends’ press release.
BPM: Bullets Per Minute is a dungeon-based shooter where every move you make is done to the beat of the game’s frenetic rock soundtrack. The upcoming console release will also include all additional content that Awe Interactive has added to the PC version. This includes a new chapter, new items, 5 additional characters, three new weapons, two new difficulty modes, and new achievements.
“When BPM: Bullets Per Minute hit PC, the response we got blew us away, and we were aware that many gamers out there were keen for us to bring our particular brand of bang-bang-to-the-beats action to PlayStation and Xbox. We always had plans to support consoles, but we felt like we should treat it as a brand new release, however, and as a result we looked for a partner to help us do these new platforms justice.” – Awe Interactive founder David Jones
Playtonic Friends obviously filled that void for Awe Interactive, and now BPM: Bullets Per Minute is one of their first projects in the realm of video games publishing. Playtonic CEO, Gavin Price commented on their business partnership, saying:
“Signing a deal to publish a game made by a studio you’ve never physically met whilst simultaneously launching a publishing label might sound daunting for some, but here at Playtonic Friends, we saw it as a challenge to master one of the new normal’s routine tasks: Loudly and repeatedly informing each other that one or more of us had left our mics on mute during endless Zoom calls. It’s been a pleasure to come together with Awe Interactive and we’re genuinely excited to bring BPM: Bullets Per Minute to console gamers this summer.”
