After being dead in the water for nearly three decades, Clockwork Aquario is going to see the light of day in Q2 2021! ININ Games will be releasing it digitally on Nintendo Switch and PS4, with more platforms to be announced. This arcade game was the last to be developed by Westone Bit Entertainment back in 1993, but never saw completion.
However, the title is in luck, as Strictly Limited Games has stepped in to stop it being lost forever. While ININ Games is handling the digital releases for Switch and PS4, Strictly Limited Games has made limited physical editions of the game available for pre-order on their website.
The above trailer shows the three main characters of Clockwork Aquario, and the first gameplay footage of the game. Our protagonists are “Huck Londo, the daring hero, Elle Moon, the brave adventuress and Gush, the warmhearted giant robot.”
Development has been lead by Ryuichi Nishizawa, the founder and game creator of Wonder Boy. The game follows a boy, girl, and robot in the near future as they crush a plan to take over the world. It has vibrant, hand-drawn pixel art, and tons of two player couch co-op action.
Strictly Limited Games currently has three limited physical editions of Clockwork Aquario available to pre-order for both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4:
The Limited Edition for PS4 is available for 29,99€. (Switch is already sold out.)
The Collector’s Edition is priced at 69,99€ and includes amongst others an Acrylic Diorama, 2x soundtrack (original & remix), an Arcade Coin (100-yen-style) and character cards.
The Ultra Collector’s Edition is available for 129,99€ and includes everything from the CE and even more cool items like a beautiful 18cm figurine of Elle, Huck and Gush and a Shikishi.
