In today’s Pokémon Presents presentation, three major new titles in the franchise were announced. All of them are coming to the Nintendo Switch. Two of the games are remakes, and the other is Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which aims to bring in new action and RPG elements to expand on the mechanics seen so far in the series while still honoring the core gameplay fans love. As players explore the huge world, they can study the behaviors of wild Pokémon, quietly sneak up to get close, and then capture them. The game takes place in the Sinnoh region, long before the events of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. The developers goal is to bring players an immersive new experience, as they adventure to assemble the first Pokédex in the region’s history. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is planned to release sometime in early 2022.
The other two games they announced today are remakes: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. These games are the ones that first brought players into the Sinnoh region back in 2006, when they launched on the Nintendo DS. They allow players to relive those adventures on the Nintendo Switch with much better graphics at home on the big screen or on the go. The developers have endeavored to recreate the original adventures very faithfully on Nintendo’s latest hardware. However, they did update them with some conveniences from newer Pokémon games as well. This pair of remakes is set to launch later this year!
Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president and CEO of The Pokémon Company, also gave a few comments about these games today.
“Trainers caught their first Pokémon in 1996 and began an adventure that has lasted 25 years. Through eight regions, many different platforms, and countless Pokémon encounters, they have strived to be the very best. We hope that fans of all ages will enjoy creating new memories while exploring the Sinnoh region in these new games.”
Today’s presentation also had details on the previously announced New Pokémon Snap, which is going to release on April 30th. They also detailed some special in-game events that are also part of the Pokémon 25th anniversary celebration. Check out their news post for more details on all of these events and games. They also have details on that page for the starter Pokémon for all three games, as well as Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus.
