Officially titled NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139, this upcoming game from Square Enix is a remake of the original NieR Replicant, set to be released in the not too distant future. This trailer showcases the “attract movie” that will likely proceed the games main menu.
Due to the trailer being age restricted on Youtube, it can’t be embedded here so you’ll have to head on over to Square Enix’s channel to watch it.
The trailer showcases some of the most noteworthy moments from the game without spoiling anything, while also showcasing the new visuals and gameplay. NieR Replicant ver. 1.2 (forgive me for rounding.) Is a remake of NieR Replicant which launched on the PlayStation 3 back in 2010 in Japan. It was part of a pair of games that made up the first NieR games, the other being NieR Gestalt on the XBox 360.
Replicant and Gestalt both follow a protagonist trying to save a young girl name Yonah from an illness that threatens her life. The difference between the two games was the protagonist and their relation to Yonah. In Replicant you took on the role of her older brother, while in Gestalt you played her father. In North America only Gestalt was released, just under the title NieR, on both platforms. I guess they thought the father character would be more appealing to an American audience, so this marks the first time North American NieR fans will be able to play Replicant, officially, and also marks the first time the game is available on PC.
NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 is set to launch on PlayStation 4, XBox One, and PC through Steam on April 23rd.
