Shiver me timbers! Pirate rat themed Metrovania, Curse of the Sea Rats, is getting a physical release for PS4 and Nintendo Switch and I’m not nearly clever enough to keep up this pirate shtick.
For those of you not in the know (much like myself) Cures of the Sea Rats is an upcoming Metrovania with an ongoing Kickstarter campaign from Petoons Studio. The game follows four heroes attempting to remove a curse that has transformed them into rats. Cures of the Sea Rats features four playable characters, some beautiful hand-drawn animations, and classic Metrovania gameplay you’ve come to expect. What might take you by surprise, however, is the up to four player local co-op. You can watch the trailer below to get a feel for the game and see it in action.
Curse of the Sea Rats has smashed it’s original goal of $17,009 USD, having raised just over $87,000 as of writing this article with 17 days remaining. Still, Petoons Studio still has two big stretch goals they’d like to reach: A Chinese translation and extra idle animations at $101,349, and a “Ghost Ship” survival mode at $135,132. (Note: These figures are converted from Euros.)
If Curse of the Sea Rats look interesting to you, consider heading on over to their Kickstarter, checking it out, and maybe contributing. Available platforms include Stream, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, And XBox One. If you want to snag a digital copy that’s going to require a pledge of about $18, and if you’re looking to get that sweet physical release (Only available to backers, currently.) that will take a pledge of about $67. Numbers are limited on this one, so act fast. Only available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
