In the most troubling of times, it’s time for My Only Sunshine to take the stage. The otome title from Sun Spot Syndicate heads to the crowdfunding platform in hopes of getting full voice acting. Furthermore, like all campaigns, they need your help. But what even is it? To clarify, this is a visual novel where you play as the sun and try to romance one of your many planets. It sounds so weird but, thanks to the demo, it’s something so promising. What started out as a mere NaNoRenO entry back in 2019 is now turning into something completely out of this world. With over nine love interests from both genders, there’s something to love for all kinds of readers. This is one of the campaigns that I was personally looking forward to the most.
If you’re curious about the campaign itself, let’s talk about it. The team hopes to earn at least $12,000 USD by May 15th to at least secure voice acting. However, there are 3 stretch goals. One at $15,000 which will fund additional art assets. Another at $17,500 which unlocks a new mysterious route. Finally, at $20,000, they’ll be able to secure a full custom soundtrack for the entirety of the game. So, how can you help? Well if you’re early enough, you can grab the game for $15. It’s only $5 more afterwards. If you want to get a friend involved in this universal romance, there is a tier that nets you two copies. A full set of physical goodies are present throughout ranging from sticker sheets to flavored lip balms. The game is nearly complete and needs that final push.
The art and clever writing are really standout qualities in this title. I can only imagine how much fun it’ll be to bring it all to life with voice acting and music. Please consider trying out the demos on Itch and Steam! Furthermore, support the campaign if you had just as much fun as I did.

So what’s My Only Sunshine about?
My Only Sunshine is an astronomy-based otome visual novel, where you play as the Sun and are able to pursue a romance with one of your planets (and yes, Pluto is included in that number). The game itself began as a NaNoRenO Entry in 2019, but we decided to take it bigger and go commercial with full voice acting.
Sun has lately been having a tough time, and has withdrawn into herself, neglecting her planets out of anxiety. She’s currently dating Terra (Earth) but things aren’t going so well. Her special millennial party approaches, so Sun hopes that will help bring new energy to her life. Unfortunately, Terra’s reckless behavior ruins the celebration she’d so been looking forward to, and Sun has to choose whether to try and work things out with him or dump his ass and perhaps pursue a new planetary partner.
