2020 is shaping up to be a great year in gaming. Lots of new games and remasters of classics to be excited for. It was pretty hard to narrow this list down to five, but without further ado, here are my top five most anticipated titles for 2020.
I’ve been an avid player of Azur Lane since it launched in the US back in May of last year. I found the ship designs to be awesome and the simple, but addictive gameplay was a ton of fun. When I heard there was a console game coming I got really excited, but I didn’t know if it would be localized or not. Luckily it was being developed by Idea Factory and sure enough they decided to bring the game West. Azur Lane: Crosswave will be a fully 3D version of the mobile game I know and love with some new characters and story. There’s also a photo mode I can’t wait to get my hands on. I must flood Twitter with Nagato’s greatness!
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
This one being on my most anticipated games list is pretty much a no brainer for anyone that has followed the site for years. I signed up to help get Xenoblade Chronicles brought to the West, and I was overjoyed to see it getting a remaster for the Switch. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition looks amazing from just the short clip we were shown of it. I honestly cannot wait to see more of the game and get my hands on it when it releases later this year. Production may stop on this site for a week or so after release, due to all of us playing it!
I was pretty let down by the release of Super Neptunia RPG this year. The story didn’t really feel like a Neptunia story and I felt the girls’ interactions were a bit stiff. Lackluster gameplay didn’t do much to help it along either. A short while ago VVVTunia was announced for release in Japan this year. This looks to be a return to form for Nep and the crew. The game focuses on virtual idols with the gameplay of a 3rd person shooter. Lots of costumes for the girls to wear and the story sounds like it could be a fun filled romp. I can’t wait to see more gameplay of this one and hopefully a localization this year.
Persona 5 was one of the best games of 2017. You could make a case for it being one of the greatest games of all time pretty easily. Persona 5 Royal will bring back all the glory of the vanilla game and spice it up with almost double the content. Persona 5 was already a huge game, so the amount of stuff to do in this game will be legendary! And let’s face it, anytime you can spend more time with Ann that’s a good thing.
Majikoi! Love me Seriously
I’ve been waiting on the JAST USA release of Majikoi! Love me Seriously for quite a while now. This title looks fantastic and the story seems like one wild ride. Our hero Yamata has a very close knit group of friends, but things suddenly change when they invite two new girls into their group. The game promises action, comedy and romance. Since I’m a fan of all three of these it’s no wonder it’s on my list of most anticipated games of 2020!
The upcoming year is full of possibilities. These are my most anticipated games of the new year so far, but I think this year is going to be great for gamers of all tastes. I cannot wait for these titles and to see what kinds of titles my friends snag up and play as well.
