At PAX West, I usually have a tradition of taking tons of photos as I wander about, and this year is no exception. Each of the 4 days of PAX West I took a bunch of photos, mostly of the cool banners, art and assorted props used to draw attention to each booth. There was some really amazing stuff on display, and not just at the expected big publisher’s booths. Some of the niche and indie games had really captivating art, and others even had great cosplayers to grab your attention. Much as I enjoy checking out cosplay, it’s more than a bit challenging to take candid pics, since the convention center has a strict policy about photography of enthusiasts taking place only in certain locations. Given that I was more than a little bit busy at PAX West, I really didn’t get to check out the cosplay, other than one especially noteworthy one at Ysbryd Games’ booth.

The following are all the photos I took of the convention center at PAX West, sorted by day. Day 1 and 2 I was getting my bearings, so those days are relatively light on content. Day 3 is a whopper, however, especially since that day involved my attendance of the Seattle Indies Expo, while Day 4 is also relatively light. Altogether though, I took 50+ photos at PAX West, so please enjoy. They’re sorted by the day they were taken, with 4 galleries total.

Day 1 was a whirlwind of chaos, and I did my best in my press hour (more like press minute) to wander about and play the more popular stuff. Some noteworthy examples being Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Shovel Knight Dig and Cyber Shadow. I also got to check out Luminous Avenger iX, from the wonderful Gunvolt series, and even got rewarded with some sweet pins for my time.

Day 2 was also crazy, but manageable crazy. Noteworthy stuff includes dropping by Ysbryd Games for some cyberpunk bartending, rocking out with No Straight Roads, exploring the world of The Dark Crystal and playing the stylish Bravery Network Online. And while I’m no fan of Starbucks, the coffee shown here is actually from the Barnes & Noble Starbucks cafe, which is owned by that bookstore.

Day 3 of PAX West I was both used to the madness and exhausted by all the walking I had done. It was also my longest day of the show, starting at 8 AM and ending after 8 PM. Some notable pics include Supergiant Games, Marvelous, Infernax, the Hotel Theodore, where I played my demo of BDSM, Jamestown+, a horrifying Unicorn floatie full of dice, the banner for Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection and all the cool stuff from SIX. Also, I finally broke down and got actual Starbucks coffee, cause I was that tired.

As for Day 4, an obvious highlight was Limited Run Games, where I got some cool Shantae swag. Also fun was NISA’s banner of La-Mulana 1 & 2, bat curry, 505 Games, Death Stranding madness, Haven, Chicory and Retrotainment Games.

Thanks for checking out my PAX West gallery, and for hopefully reading all my coverage of the event. Now I can take a well deserved break, at least until the next big game con!
