It’s a good week for the Nintendo Download. After the whole hustle and bustle of the Indie World presentation, we’re starting to see some of those games show up on the Switch. Which is both good and bad. It’s good cause I feel indies make gaming much more interesting. It’s bad because many of the indies shown just didn’t strike my fancy, though I’ll still be mentioning a couple today. So let’s get started with a few new featured titles and see where this Nintendo Download takes us.
Even though many of the games shown at the Indie World didn’t float my boat, a couple of them are out today. First up is the trippy FPS shooter / action game SUPERHOT. The mechanic that things don’t move until you do is different, and it looks like a complex and violent puzzle experience. Next up is another rowdy game, the Hotline Miami Collection. I’m really surprised this one doesn’t appeal to me, just from the visual aesthetic alone. But it just never clicked. That said, you might find something to love in both games included in this collection. It’s hard to go wrong with Devolver Digital. Finally, there’s a new demo for DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition out today, and the full game is out in about a week. I am fascinated by it, not cause I’m a huge fan of the series, but because I’ve heard really good things. If you enjoy classic RPGs with modern conventions and stellar art, you should probably check this featured title out. Now let’s keep going with some new games courtesy of Nintendo Switch Online.

- Kung-Fu Heroes – Monsters have taken Princess Min-Min and the 10 treasures of the land, and the people have fallen into sorrow. Only Kung-Fu Masters Jacky and Lee can save the princess and retrieve the treasures. Their journey will take them to eight different castles filled with hosts of traps and obstacles. Use punches and the Miracle Kick to defeat the enemies. You will need quick wits and lightning reflexes to make it to the last castle.
- Vice: Project Doom – There exists a group of undercover detectives who dare stand up to the evil in the world… They are known as Vice. Officer Quinn Hart, a member of Vice, is on the case and after the truth. High-speed car chases, action-packed battles employing three types of weapons and a mode with three 3D rail-shooting stages all bring this cyberpunk world to life.

For multiplayer action, there’s Gurgamoth and Invisigun Reloaded. Platforming fans should enjoy Mekabolt. For a duo of adventure games, there’s Path of Sin: Greed and Milkmaid of the Milky Way. For something truly strange, there’s Please Teach Me Onedari Shogi. And lastly, for a couple classic RPGs, try the GRANDIA HD Collection.
