Retro Wrap-Up: Paper Mario Edition

Paper Mario: Sticker Star will probably be available by the time this goes out on both the eShop and in retail stores. Unfortunately, due to my…less than stellar internet connection, the download is going to take a few hours or so on my end. This is a situation I imagine some of you will also be in. In the mean time, here are some old Paper Mario commercials that the Operation Rainfall Retro Commercial Research Team (in other words, me) found for this week’s Retro Wrap-Up.

It’s worth mentioning that the music in the commercial for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door eventually led to a lawsuit with Nintendo of America. This is supposedly why Earthbound hasn’t been re-released on the Virtual Console yet, even though several titles more popular than it have been re-released before.

Anyways, here are the highlights from this week.

We pick Virtue’s Last Reward as our Game of the Month for the month of October.

The latest edition of Nintendo Power revealed that a new Shantae game for the eShop is in the works.

The guys behind Pier Solar, an RPG that was released for the SEGA Genesis in 2010, launched a KickStarter with plans to re-release the game for the 360, PC, Mac, Linux, and even the Dreamcast in HD (Dreamcast version will be in SD).
