Chicken Assassin: Reloaded is one of those times when something comes up for review and I’m thinking, “this is gonna be crazy but I have to see what this is.” I had no idea what kinda gameplay it had or anything basically. I just knew it was a game about a crazy looking chicken fighting things and maybe in the back of my mind I was thinking about the big chicken fights in Family Guy! That being said, let’s see what kinda mayhem this game really brings.

When Spritzel and his goons kidnap your girlfriend, Candy, you leave on a mission to go save her. You will leave chaos and destruction in your wake as you fight hordes of enemies in order to recover Candy. The time for talk is over, so get out there and kick their motherclucking asses!

Chicken Assassin | Fight
Punchy!

Yeah not much story here, but what can you expect from what is basically a clicker game with some RPG elements. You will enter a stage and beat up each wave of baddies as they come at you. Stages will consist of 20 waves and you move onto the next stage after completing a certain number of waves. This is done by simply using the on-screen pointer and pressing X A LOT! As you defeat the enemies on each wave you will be awarded orbs and items. Some of these items can be equipped to boost your stats. These stats are your three basic RPG stats – attack, defense and critical rate. A certain level may be required to equip certain things. Costume items that will not only change your look but give you some stats boosts can be acquired as well. These are usually unlocked by beating X number of a certain enemy. I mean, did I ever think I would be playing a game where you would equip heart covered boxer shorts and a Nicholas Cage mask on a chicken? No, but somehow it works!

In between stages you can use orbs to purchase further upgrades for your chicken warrior. These include things like more health, better defense, better random items out of the treasure chest or even a robot buddy to help you kick the cluck outta your foes. Much like with equipment certain skills and upgrades will only unlock after you gain a certain number of levels. Making sure you are fully upgraded and having good gear is essential to survival!

Chicken Assassin Reloaded | Bag over head
Cheese Shoulder Pads are definitely the way to go!

Graphically, Chicken Assassin: Reloaded looks pretty good. The backgrounds are vibrant and there is lots of action going on in them. The enemy designs are unique to say the least. I mean did you ever think you’d see a big chicken taking on a treasure chest with tentacles coming out of it? I mean I’ve seen enough hentai to see where this is going, but sheesh. The animation here is pretty basic but it gets the job done. Though I have to say all the details in the costume pieces you unlock really add a nice touch to things. I mean there is equipment like future visors, detective coats, ball caps, mouth covers, masks and a lot more. I had a ton of fun just seeing how crazy I could make him look.

Chicken Assassin Reloaded | Troll
A true representation of an internet troll!

In the sound department, there is nothing fancy here. The soundtrack is upbeat and has some good bass to it. You’ll be bobbing your head as you relentlessly click X to destroy all the baddies. The game is kinda voiced, but it sounds like they have sped up the actors track to make it sound like its own language. It’s odd, but certainly fits in with the rest of this game.

I have to say for the $8.99 price tag on the PS4 the game may not have the deepest gameplay, but certainly has a lot of content. In addition to the story missions, there is an Endless Mode and Boss Raid Mode you can test your button mashing skills in. While I don’t think Chicken Assassin: Reloaded is for everyone, if you have a crazy sense of humor, like clicker games or just want a cheap time waster you could do a lot worse for the asking price here.
