Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to release on October 27, and some newly announced free DLC will give players a new way to experience the game. Dubbed Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt, this new mode will allow players to freely explore the world of Assassin’s Creed Origins without any story sequences or combat. Instead, players can learn about ancient Egypt through interactive tours with information about the pyramids, Cleopatra, mummies and more. This essentially turns the Origins into an open world educational game, which is pretty interesting. The Assassin’s Creed series has always provided blurbs of information about the real world locations the game’s levels are based on, and this new mode basically gives players a chance to explore that even further.

There are plenty of educational games out there, but this is the first time a major triple A game has allowed players to have a purely educational experience. It remains to be seen how in-depth this mode will be, but it is a really ambitious way of merging education with an interactive medium. The Discover Tour will be released for Assassin’s Creed Origins early next year.
