When I saw Front Wing was releasing a dancing and singing simulator based off the Visual Novel Time Leap Paradise on Steam, I thought this could be interesting. This program was called Time Leap Paradise SUPER LIVE!, and I say ‘program’ and not ‘game’ because there’s not any gameplay here to speak of. This is basically what I would call a Moe benchmarking tool for your PC. Still, I thought it would be nice to write some impressions on its features and if it’s worth purchasing the $10 DLC pack, so without further ado, let’s get cracking!
Time Leap Paradise SUPER LIVE! is a benchmarking tool in every sense. When your first fire up this app, you will be met with a setup screen. There are a ton of graphical options you can set such as the screen resolution, Anti – aliasing, HDR settings, shadow settings and a few others. This will determine how much load you’re putting on your rig to test it. When the show starts, it will display how many frames per second your computer is putting out while the girls are putting on their show with the setting you selected. When the song is over you will be given a score to show how well your PC performed.
While there is a free version of this, it is very limited but it will still a give score and you can see a Moe performance. I think most of the value in this one comes in the DLC package. In the DLC Encore Pack you get 5 characters to use in solo or group acts, 9 songs from various mostly well known Visual Novels and over 20 outfits. The song selection is what really brought me to this, featuring songs from Little Busters! and Air, but I really enjoyed the other tracks as well.
Aside from the great music, the costumes you can choose from are equally impressive. They even feature costumes found in some of the Visual Novels the music tracks were from. You may ask yourself “Did Steve fanboy out a little when he saw the Little Busters! School costume in the line-up?” Yes I did a bit, though it would’ve been better if they had a Kud version, but I digress. There are 20 outfits in all and about 4 different pieces of head gear to choose from.
While there isn’t a lot to do while the performances are going on, you can adjust the HDR levels and switch to several different cameras. Some of these cameras can be moved around freely so you can check out the gals from every angle possible. While this is not the most compelling experience in the world, I did find it kind of relaxing to just listen to the great tunes and see the gals dancing around having fun.
At the end of the day, your enjoyment of Time Leap Paradise SUPER LIVE! will depend on how big of a fan you are of the Visual Novels the songs and costumes come from. If you’ve been playing these for years and are an avid fan, I think you can certainly get $10 worth of entertainment out of this. If you’re not a fan of Visual Novels or have no idea where these songs come from, you may want to steer clear of this one.
