The latest issue of Jump Square has revealed that Blue Exorcist would be receiving a 2nd season. The 2nd season will cover the Kyoto Impure King arc.
Some of the staff for the anime have been announced. A-1 Pictures will once again produce the anime.
The staff announced includes:
- Director: Koichi Hatsumi (replacing Tensai Okamura)
- Scriptwriter: Toshiya Ono/Ryota Yamaguchi
- Composers: Hiroyuki Sawano, Kohta Yamamoto
- Character Design: Keigo Sasaki

The 2nd season of Blue Exorcist is set to premiere in 2017. The cast from the 1st season will return in the 2nd season.
