Geoff Keighly has confirmed via Twitter that this year’s Game Awards is set to air on December 1st. This marks the third annual showing for the event formerly known as the VGAs and VGX. Further details will be revealed over the summer. Keighly tweeted a look at the banner now hanging at this year’s E3 2016 show.

The Game Awards has certainly had its ups and downs over the years, but there’s no denying it has grown as an awards show in terms of size and spectacle. Last year’s show had several noteworthy moments including Splatoon winning out Best Multiplayer Game over the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Star Wars Battlefront, Konami getting called out for not allowing Hideo Kojima to accept his reward, and a short tribute of the late Satoru Iwata by NOA president Reggie Fils-Amié.
