Today is the 20th anniversary of Pokémon, and marks the long-awaited release of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow on the 3DS Virtual Console. Nintendo has given each version of the Game Boy classics their own launch trailer. The games are available for $9.99 a piece, with English, Spanish, and French versions available for each one. Unlike most Virtual Console releases, you will not be able to create restore points, but you can still trade and battle with other local 3DS systems. It was also revealed in yesterday’s Direct that these games are compatible with Pokémon Bank, and anything caught can be sent to Pokémon Sun and Moon. Being around for twenty years is a long time for any franchise to remain popular, or even relevant, but the call to catch them all continues to this day.
