Although I am a recent convert to the Danganronpa series, I quickly was transformed from somebody on the fences to a full fledged fan of the Monokuma madness. After playing through both of the main titles, I found myself itching for more, and it turns out a 3rd main title is in the works, called New Danganronpa V3: Minna no Koroshiai Shin Gakki.
The “new” in the title isn’t just for show, as the game apparently a totally different setting with completely new characters. No longer are we invested in the Hope’s Peak Academy nor the various classes who survived the madness that occurred. However, it wouldn’t be Danganronpa without Monokuma, and the diabolical teddy bear is back for this third round, even if no other characters are reprising their roles. While that is unfortunate, since there are quite a few plot threads that still need to be resolved, I am curious what other tales can be told with this series.
While it hasn’t been announced for localization in the West yet, New Danganronpa V3 is slated to release for PS4 and Vita in Japan sometime in 2016. That’s good news for fans, and hopefully there is nothing that will keep this latest entry from coming overseas.
