Super Mario Maker is out in North America today, but the game is currently available in Japan and other regions. In that time, Nintendo has released an update to the game, and it seems to address a concern many players had an issue with: item unlocking. Previously, items would unlock daily as players put at least five minutes of play a day in the game for a total of nine days, unless they sped up their Wii U internal clock. After the 1.0.1 update, items will now unlock every 15 minutes of play, drastically speeding up the unlocking process.
While the original unlocking system in Super Mario Maker seemed to have its heart in the right place, this new system is a much more preferable way of obtaining items for level creation. It will definitely make a lot of Super Mario fans happy.
