Amidst the many announcements during PAX Prime, Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski stated that while their new title Lawbreakers is currently only slated for PC, there is a possibility that it may receive a PS4 and Xbox One release later on. Bleszinski explained that there are two main obstacles preventing a console port. First, the developer (Boss Key) is too small to design the ports internally, with the staff currently numbering around 40. Aside from finding a potential partner to port the game, LawBreakers also needs to be approved by Xbox executive Phil Spencer and PlayStation executive Adam Boyes.
Phil Spencer has already stated that “Cliff Bleszinski is always welcome on Xbox,” and while this may simply refer to his history with Gears of War, one of the most successful franchises for the Xbox 360, it could also at least suggest the possibility of a LawBreakers port.
The game is a free-to-play shooter, and will be published by Nexon America for the PC. It is set to launch in 2016.
