There’s an origin story behind every game’s development. It’s creators might be struck with inspiration during particularly interesting circumstances or during difficult times. Most are never know but according to an interview with Atlus producer Shinjiro Takata, the original idea to collaborate with Nintendo came from a project they worked on.
What project was it? A photo booth game for DSi and 3DS. In case you didn’t know, Atlus controls over two-thirds of the photo booth business in Japan and brings much of it’s revenue from it. Unfortunately, Atlus has been so busy the past few years that the Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem project has taken a long time to materialize. But based on what we’ve seen over the past few days, the game is coming along quite nicely and really takes a slice of modern day Japan and shines on the Wii U.
