At E3 2015, DotEmu, a developer and publisher that specializes in porting retro games to mobile devices, confirmed that Ys Chronicles II will be playable on iOS and Android devices in the near future. This version was originally released in 2009 and is an updated adaptation of Ys Book II for the TurboGrafx, and is also known by the title Ys: Ancient Ys Vanished – The Final Chapter. It follows the story of young hero Adol Christian as he uses a legendary set of tomes that tell the origins and downfall of an ancient and mystical realm known as Ys (pronounced ‘eees’, not ‘whys’ or ‘eyes’) to try and unravel the mystery of the land and stop the evil forces that oppose you in your quest. The gameplay is mostly arcade-oriented fare, with the player guiding characters into enemies to destroy them. There are no attack commands or button combinations while fighting, and success is largely dependent on your angle of attack and how well armed and armored you are. Dungeon exploration, purchasing new gear and items and NPC interaction are all gameplay elements, as well.
There is no release date yet for Ys Chronicles II, but it is coming for mobile devices sometime soon.
